South Wimbledon Shorinji Kempo Dojo


South Wimbledon Shorinji Kempo Dojo was founded on the 16th of October 2016 by branch master Sensei Paul Hughes 3rd Dan.


South Wimbledon Shorinji Kempo Dojo is a not for profit club; the instructor Sensei Paul Hughes teaches for the love and enjoyment of furthering his art. After the rent for the hall is paid, the remainder of the class fees is used to pay for free equipment and for uniforms of existing and new students. “Live half for yourself and half for others.” “Help yourself by helping others.” 


The art of Shorinji Kempo was founded in 1947 in Tadotsu Japan, by a Buddhist monk called Doshin So and is an amalgamation of everything he had learned about martial arts. Combining Japanese, Chinese and even western fighting styles to create Shorinji Kempo. In 1974 grand master Sensei Mizuno brought Shorinji Kempo to the UK and founded the BSKF


On the 16th of October 2016 Sensei Paul Hughes 3rd Dan branch master founded South Wimbledon Shorinji Kempo Dojo. Sensei Paul has been practicing Shorinji Kempo for over twenty years and has been practicing various martial arts since the 1980’s. From day one the dojo was extremely popular and has gone from strength to strength. A real success story!
